The ink: Attio’s $23.5M Series A funding

Investors: Alex Bard and Patrick Chase

The scoop: Attio is building the CRM of the future. They reimagined CRM from the ground up by combining a modern data architecture with a truly beautiful user experience. Their vision is to build a CRM as powerful as Salesforce, but as easy to use as Notion or Airtable.

What they’re tackling: Attio’s powerful data model is built on top of a team's existing data streams—like email, calendar, and social data—but layers in rich contextual product and analytics data, and more. Attio also supports real-time collaboration like Google Docs and other functionality, so users can perform all workflows from the keyboard. Imagine the possibilities with an evergreen customer data warehouse, with the flexibility of Airtable sitting right on top—that's Attio. They call what they’re doing Customer Relationship Magic, and it’s easy to see why.

Smart move: The CRM market is one of the largest B2B software markets in the world. It was estimated to be $58 billion USD in 2022 and is expected to expand at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 13.9% from 2023 to 2030. Today, Salesforce is a $160B company and Hubspot is a $19B company. Attio already has more than 2,000 customers in over 100 countries, including OpenAI, Causal, Pallet, Dopt and Coca-Cola.

The Deep Dive: Attio’s product has three core pillars:

  1. Data-Driven - Attio is built on top of a team's existing data streams, which means teams have access to more, higher quality data; that data is always up-to-date; and teams can start getting value from it in under 2 minutes.
  2. Flexible - With every other CRM you're working around (or against!) rigid and opinionated features. In Attio, workflows are totally user-defined and supported by a library of powerful templates allowing teams to build processes that would likely be impossible to fit into the traditional CRM model.
  3. Collaborative - Attio supports real-time collaboration like Google Docs or Figma. You can see who else if viewing a collection and updating fields. In addition, it has a beautiful UI and supports command+k type functionality, so you can do all workflows from the keyboard.

Investor input: When we met CEO Nicolas Sharp and CTO Alexander Christie back in 2022, we were immediately struck by the scope of their ambition. They’re the type of founders we love to partner with as they look at something like building a CRM from the ground up and get excited to attack it head on. Redpoint was fortunate to be early investors in companies like Snowflake, which took three years to launch their cloud data warehouse. We know that building these products with massive surface area is hard, but worth it. CRM is no different. After heads down building for three years, Attio is now ready to open up to the world.
